EVEN THE BASEMENT -

Lower level areas are often overlooked, In this case, the home was new and beautiful, but the basement wasn’t giving it’s full potential. All rooms of a home can be amazing no mater the location or challenges. A bit of dΓ©cor, built-ins, well selected furnishings and our expertise can transform basic to beautiful.

Clients Tony & Leslie requested a grown-up space where their lovely kids and goldendoodle would feel included and easily play. As typical of a lower level, the space was dark, needed cozy elements and pretty sightlines to pull you into the room. Because of this, the walls were lightened, beautiful cabinetry was added along with a gas fireplace and Samsung Frame TV. Leslie requested a built-in playhouse for the kids which was custom designed and built to match the interior of the room seamlessly. The playhouse was such a whimsical idea with an adorable outcome. Love an interior which balances sophistication with fun, childlike features.

Every square inch of your home should be extra special - even the basement.

PINK, POST MODERN & POP ART -

I was ecstatic after meeting with Chantel Cody to discuss the design direction of her future hair studio: The Pink Label Salon, Qualicum Beach B.C..

Chantel’s enthusiasm, vibrant personality and design inspiration were all amazing and I had a major hankering for this type of project. I’m always wanting to push the design boundaries and I knew this would be up my alley and a fun collaboration.

It may be surprising, but as an interior designer, I can feel held back creatively and not given complete agency to design BIG. Chantel was wanting outrageous and weird and because of that, I could push the design to a different level. I enjoyed working and collaborating in this open, trusting, art focused mindset. It feels good to think from a composition stand point - as if this is art, not just a functioning interior.

The outcome to this no boundaries design is mood shifting. It’s candy pink, post modern, and pop art.

Now that the salon is open, it’s full of energy, hustle and bustle. You’ll find Chantel Tic Toking with clients, creating beautiful window displays, creating genius IG stories and producing hair looks that rival the salon interior. It’s seriously the happiest place in Qualicum (if I do say so myself – wink wink ) !

Huge props to Chantel for suggesting an all pink interior and providing great inspiration and creative freeness.

Design boundaries are meant to be broken – let me help you with that !

THE CHERRY ON TOP -

There’s nothing more exciting than work with a gifted maker. A maker of food, craft, art, photography, clothing … the list goes on.  The creative excitement and sense of opportunity is addictive - not only for me, but also the client. dreams are becoming reality and I love assisting in the process.  An amazing Interior is not the deciding factor to a successful business; however, it sure gives a new brand a major boost and following - what Ivory Design Co. is known for.

Ivory Design Co. is honored to have worked with Sunny, owner of Cold Front Gelato, Nanaimo. Her dreams and tremendous talents are the back bone to her small batch gelato business. Her art filled interior is the cherry on top.

Successful businesses are pretty too !

PERSONALITY WINS -

A twinkle in the eye or a fun laugh, clients Paul and Janik have that type of vibe. Janik slid down the banister of her staircase (yes!) and it made my day! I could immediately feel an open workflow and positive environment which always has the best outcomes.

If Paul & Janik aren’t working with people, hosting dinner parties or playing pickle ball, you’ll find them hanging with family in the comfort of home. home is important to Paul and Janik. They wanted a young, vibrant interior to reflect their lifestyle, ongoing humor and connection with their kids. Stone blue was requested to mimic the pebbles so prevalent on our Vancouver Island beaches. Walls were removed and the kitchen reimagined. A light bright scheme was produced with a pop of gold velvet and linen. The result is inviting - the perfect backdrop to life.

A home aesthetic should reflect the people in it !

MODERN FARMHOUSE -

Ivory Design Co. clients are often quite talented and creative but want a sounding board, a decision influencer, inside knowledge, a detailed drawing package and the Ivory Design Co. touch. It’s a fun process which takes a great deal of teamwork and collaboration.

Ivory Design Co worked with Sonja and Jarrett to renovate the main washroom of their home. You would never know this washroom was once a β€œ1970’s special”. Design Collaboration lead to good honest materials such as marble, white oak, concrete and linen. Tone on tone texture with a hint of sparkle pretty much sums this space up.

Two design influences are better than one.

A WELL BALANCED OFFICE -

It’s odd to think we spend most of our day at work. Some of us love our professions - others struggle day in and day out.

Employers are increasingly aware that environment can promote productiveness, an overall sense of well being and increase team synergy. Science has proven this.

A well designed environment can reflect the work produced, the people that work there and the client.

In this case the owner of Core Insurance Nanaimo B.C. wanted to showcase the wood products his clients sell. β€œUse as many wood species as possible and as creatively as you can”. Laminated wood timber, live edge off cuts and tongue and groove were all incorporated. The outcome is modern, warm, bright and textural.

Let’s change how we work, one office at a time.

JEWEL BOX -

Small doesn’t need to be β€œsmall”. Small can be bold.

A small ensuite cries out for luxurious finishes. As we all know, great things come in small packages.

Small rooms make room for high end materials and that’s exactly what Sonja and Jarrett requested. We knew this renovation could sing with the right finishes and attention to detail.

Pattern, colour and antiques were incorporated to elevate this 55 SF ensuite. No detail was unturned. The brass handles were refinished, the antique dresser repurposed and Sonja’s dream black & white basket weave mosaic sourced.

There’s nothing small about this washroom.

NEW BEGINNINGS -

So many of us thrive on change. Out with the old - in with the new. A new town, a new street a new coffee shop - sound good?

Leila purchased her new town home in an effort to downsize and simplify. A place to grow, be creative and reflect her unique style.

A well layered living room with global influences were requested. Traditional patterns, spring colors, Moroccan brass juxtaposed against modern glass where the elements that brought this room together. The result is light filled, crisp and well mixed. A photo doesn't quite capture the true vibe of this room.

A new room - open to new experiences.
